NEW Destiny Mission: The Case of the Curious Transceiver

The First Firewall on Earth has hidden secrets…

For those of you who may have been asleep at 3 am this morning, a previously inaccessible mission was unlocked when Destiny’s daily clock reset!

For those of you who have been lucky enough to find all 4 Dvalin fusion rifle relics on your characters (4 EACH character!), you’ll find yourselves able to load up a new mission in the Cosmodrome.

Upon its completion (after WAVES of knights who spawn in an identifiably odd pattern…), one will receive a Curious Transceiver. Upon closer inspection of this mysterious new addition to your inventory, you’ll notice the ability to input a passcode.

Those clever enough to have gotten this far most likely can puzzle out the next bit themselves; those who want a shortcut can read on:

<<END OF SPOILERS: CARRY ON, NOTHING TO SEE HERE>>

Once the Transceiver has been activated with the correct sequence, you’ll hear the signal leading you towards another temporary mission in the Cosmodrome titled Shadow Call.

It appears the Taken have also heard the broadcast, and you’re in a race against time to the top of the Devil’s Spire (where Cayde had his secret stash) to uncover the meaning behind the mysterious signal drawing you forward.

4:00 on the clock means you’ll have to get to the top, dodging wizards (WHO ARE NEVER ALONE!) and blight the whole way in a mad rush to not lose the signal. Players who reach the top are greeted with a final fight through which they may recover the Exotic Item long known to the Destiny community as a key component of the Sleeper Simulant, The Ikelos Fusion Core!

The puzzle doesn’t stop here; as you inspect your new artifact, you’ll discover that it’s far from complete.

Five nodes allow for the addition of materials that may repair your new core, the most easily obtainable of which appears to be a Heavy Power Coupling—these are found when dismantling a legendary or exotic heavy weapon while the core is your possession.

Three ‘Plasma Confinement Modules’ and some ‘Ionized Shell Harmonics’ complete the set, the first of which are obtainable one-per-planet via the ‘Defend the WarSat’ public events (one on earth, one on mars, one on the moon).

Destinypublicevents.com will be a great help to anyone wanting to track those down as quickly as possible, and you’ll be able to find the last piece of the puzzle on Venus via the story mission ‘The Archive’.

All 5 items added together will allow one to reactivate the core, alerting Banshee (the Tower Gunsmith) to its presence. He’ll request a closer inspection, asking to hold onto it so the City’s Foundries can take a closer look, “Show em what a real weapon looks like.”

And now, my friends, it seems we wait!

Who knows when the next piece of the puzzle will drop, but you can count on GeekFactor to keep you informed when it does! In the meantime, here’s a piece of hilarity for you:
